Alpha CD28X

The Alpha CD28X is the entry level Combination boiler offered by heating company Alpha. Alpha aim to provide the same high standards that characterise their range, even with their entry level model. The CD28X is built using stainless steel and top quality components, which enables it to attain the same exceptional levels of performance and reliability as others in the range.

The CD28X is also designed to be easy to maintain and operate, with a open and straightforward layout.

Other specifications include:

  • 2 year guarantee
  • 2m flying mains lead
  • 6 year guarantee on DHW heat exchanger
  • Anti-cycling device
  • Automatic bypass
  • Daily pump kick
  • Frost thermostat
  • Fully modulating low NOx burner
  • No compartment ventilation needed
  • No scale reducer needed
  • Stainless steel heat exchanger
  • Valves & tails factory fitted

The CD28X also provides 28kW of central heating output, which should be more than enough to cover most applications where a combi is the boiler of choice. The CD28X is SEDBUK Band 'A' rated, and is recommended by the Energy Saving Trust, meaning it is an extremely green choice also.

Finally, the CD28X is compatible with the Alpha PremierPack add-on, which enables easy location and fitting of the boiler to anywhere it has to be sited. Because of the Cyclone protection facility that comes with this, the warranty is extended by a further two years too.

It may be very efficient but the user controls are not. My boiler can only be overidden by going into the garage where the boiler is sited and switching the rocker switch to constant. The timing disk is motor driven and set by movable segments, bit old fashioned in these days. I am looking whether I can fit an overide in the house to boost the heating when it suits me.
